"Hi there! I'm a high school English teacher with a passion for education that runs in the family - my mom was a teacher and my dad always promoted the value of a good education. When I was in school, only a few kids took part in after-school clubs or leadership activities, and it made them stand out. But now, everyone is encouraged to do the same, and it's hard to stand out from the crowd.
That's why I believe the new way to make an impact and get noticed by colleges and employers is by developing soft skills, like critical thinking. I saw this when my own kids were in school, but as a parent, I didn't know how to help them develop these skills.
That's when I discovered passion projects and the power they have to teach students not just academics, but also how to think critically and independently. I taught a senior capstone project class for four years before taking on the AP Capstone program, and I loved every moment of it.
Although it was too late for me to help my own kids develop these skills, I now have the opportunity to help other teens benefit from my knowledge and experience. I'm excited to work with motivated students and help them stand out in today's competitive world by enhancing their soft skills through literature, writing, and passion projects. Let's work together to help your teen succeed!"
